The Philobiblon Club of Philadelphia is
finishing out its 118th year. We have a
full slate of programs for the year, held the second Tuesday of each month,
October through May. George Koppelman and Daniel Wechsler will speak on
the provenance of an annotated Elizabethan dictionary (was it Shakespeare’s?)
on October 14; James Tanis will discuss his extensive postcard collection
(November 11), and David Szewczyk will talk about the collection of the College
of Physicians (December 9).
On January 13 is the Annual Members'
Meeting (bring something from your collection to tell us about), and a month
later (February 10) Julie Nelson Davis will speak about Japanese books; Bradley
Duncan will discuss radical literature on March 10; Alexander Ames will speak
about Frakturschrift (April 14 ); and Cary Sternick on Peck's Bad Boy (May
12).
Meetings, which include dinner, are held
at the Franklin Inn Club of Philadelphia. The Club welcomes visiting FABS
members to attend its meetings whenever possible. Contact club secretary Mark Darby (215-204-1040 or mark.darby@temple.edu).
