Movable Magic!
Watch Paul Johnson pull a library’s worth of books – many his own, others made by British schoolchildren – from a single suitcase! Paul talks about the endless power of the book as an aesthetic, architectural form and its special fascination for children of all ages. Glickman Library, 4th Floor University of Southern Maine. Members are urged to invite a guest.
British educator and book artist Dr. Paul Johnson has an international reputation for his pioneering work in developing literacy through the book arts. As an artist he uses brilliant industrial fabric dyes on mould made watercolor paper to create a style that is uniquely his own. He has developed and taught more than a dozen different workshops on three-dimensional books and has pioneered the use of various paper joints to eliminate folding paper in pop-up structures.
